Recently I have become something a little short of obsessed with the play series Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, which is a series of thirty plays in 60 minutes performed three times a week by the acting troupe known as the Neo Futurists. The plays are cycled in and out of rotation at the rate of at least six a week and new plays are put in for the next weekend’s performance. They can be funny or sad or just make you think, but the overall rule is that it has to be true. The plays range in length from thirty seconds to two or three minutes and end with one of the actors yelling “Curtain” and the audience shouting out their requests for the next play they’d like to see. In order to work through some writer’s block I have been experiencing lately, I went to the Neo Futurist’s website and found that several of the members of the ensemble have posted some of their play scripts with their bios. After spending a couple of days reading these scripts I was inspired to write the following pieces.
i would reccommend that you take a look at their stuff and if you get a chance drop by and see the show.
